How ThumbsGen works, feature by feature
From a pasted link to a 1280×720 file you can upload. Six parts of the workspace, each with a short explanation and a look at the screen.

Feature 01 of 06
Paste-a-Link Generation
Paste a YouTube link or type the working title of a video you have not published yet. ThumbsGen reads the title and description and proposes layouts, backgrounds and a short on-image hook.
You are not locked into the first guess. Every set is a starting draft: swap the hook, change the style, or regenerate with a different angle until it matches the video.
Because it works from a title, you can design the thumbnail before the edit is finished, which is how many creators plan their packaging.
Feature 02 of 06
One-Click Face Cutout
Upload a photo of yourself and ThumbsGen cuts you out of the background in one click. Add a thick outline or glow, flip, scale and move the layer exactly where the layout needs it.
Save a few cutouts with different expressions to your brand kit so you do not have to re-upload them every time.
Only upload faces you have the right to use. Uploaded images are kept for 30 days after upload unless you delete them sooner.

Hook & Text Suggestions
A thumbnail works best when the text adds something the title does not. ThumbsGen suggests short hooks in a few styles, such as a curiosity gap, a before/after contrast, a number, or a direct question.
Suggestions are capped to a few words so they stay legible at small sizes. Click one to apply it, then edit the words, font weight and outline directly on the canvas.
These are ideas, not guarantees. You know your audience better than any model, so treat them as a faster way to a first draft.
Feature 04 of 06
A/B Variant Sets
One credit generates one set of 3 thumbnails: different layouts, crops or hooks for the same video. Compare them side by side at full size and at the small size viewers actually see in a feed.
Export the ones you like and use them with YouTube's Test & Compare feature, where available on your channel, to see which version your own audience prefers.
ThumbsGen does not promise that any variant will perform better. Variants are a way to run your own test.
Feature 05 of 06
Brand Templates
Create a brand kit with your palette, preferred heading font, logo and saved face cutouts. New generations start from your kit instead of a blank canvas.
Agencies can keep one kit per channel so a client's look stays consistent from video to video.
Templates are layouts, not copies of other creators' work. You stay in control of the style.
Feature 06 of 06
1280×720 Export with Safe-Zone Guides
Exports are 1280×720 (16:9) in JPG or PNG, ready to upload to YouTube without resizing or cropping in another tool.
Toggle safe-zone guides on the canvas to see where the video timestamp, the watch-later icon and rounded corners can cover your design, so key text and faces stay visible.
A small-size preview shows how the thumbnail reads in a crowded feed before you export.

Feed preview
See it at the size viewers see it
Most people meet a thumbnail as a small card next to other videos. The feed preview places your draft among sample cards so you can check whether the text is still readable and the face still clear.
- Short hooks of two to four words tend to stay legible when small.
- Check the bottom right corner, where the timestamp sits.
- Hover or tap a card to compare it with its neighbours.
